New Standard Makes it Easier to Identify Your Products:
As of 30 June, the existing GS1 Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) Allocation Rules have been replaced by a new, simplified GTIN Management Standard – making it easier for you to manage your GTINs.
The old 46 GTIN allocation rules have been replaced by a single GTIN Management Standard – organized around a set of clear principles and presented in an easy-to-understand format.
At the heart of the new standard are 10 GTIN rules. Though streamlined, there is no major change to the logic behind GTIN management, which means the new standard will have no operational impact on your business. But it will be quicker and simpler to make the right decisions when there are changes to your products.
What do you need to do?
If you allocate GTINs to your products then read up on the new standard below, and then use the new GTIN management tool next time you need to identify a new or changed product, it will save you time!
