New Eagle Transaction – Blind Tag Count

Eagle has added new functionality to help increase the flexibility and efficiency of a full physical stock take.

A standard stock take would require the user to first follow the normal tag creation process (deleting old tags, creating new tags and freezing inventory). A list of the tags is then given to the operators, and the inventory counted against each tag. This, potentially, has several issues. Firstly, the operator has to have a full list of tags per item/location to ensure they count against the correct tag. Additionally there may be multiple boxes/packages in a single location, requiring the operator to sum the total quantity per item / per location before recording the result. This can make for a long, inefficient and potentially inaccurate stock count process.

Eagle, in conjunction with our partner IT Dynamics, has created a new Blind Tag Count program to overcome these issues. The normal tag creation process is followed as before.  The operator then uses RF Express to complete the stock take in a given site. It is essentially a “blind” stock take – in that he/she does not necessarily know the tag number and also doesn’t have a tag sheet. The operator can choose up front whether he/she is counting in a single location or in multiple locations. Choosing a single location is useful for when there is a big area (single location) with lots of stock: and then he/she only has to scan the location once. They then will scan item, lot, reference and quantity. RF Express will then find the relevant tag. If the tag exists and a quantity has already been captured, the operator will be asked if the new quantity must be added to or replace the existing quantity. Discrepancies are reviewed and any required recounts are done.

This new program thereby allows Eagle customers to complete a full stock take with far greater efficiency and accuracy. This, in turn, allows the frozen stock to be released earlier than in the standard process and production and warehousing operations to resume.
