Management of serialised items has always presented a challenge for both manufacturing and warehousing operations. This is especially true of shipping operations. Often a sales order will have set serialised items allocated. However, when the warehouse operatives come to pick the order, the allocated items may either not be accessible or have a quality issue, whereupon alternate items need to be selected. Additionally, it is often required to detail the packaging and packing structure of these items.
Eagle have therefore added additional functionality to RF Express for QAD – Dynamic Serialised Load Truck. This allows the traditional allocation process at sales order entry or pre-shipper creation within QAD. The operator will then pick the items to be shipped and place them in a box/pallet using RF Express Pallet Load. The box/pallet can then be loaded against the Pre-Shipper using Dynamic Serialised Load Truck. A shipper will be automatically created and allocations updated dynamically so that the shipment and EDI documentation will reflect the items picked, not those allocated. The box/pallet will also be converted to a QAD container to ensure maximum visibility on both Shipper and ASN documentation. When picked complete the pre-shipper will be deleted leaving only the completed shipper to be confirmed within QAD. Additionally, the operator will be warned if items are missing from the shipment. They can then unlink the box/pallet, add the missing item and re-attach to the shipment to help ensure 100% accurate shipments 100% of the time.
